Kennzeichnend ist ein gest\u00f6rtes enchondrales Knochenwachstum. Dies wird durch eine Gain-of-Function-Mutation im Gen f\u00fcr den Fibroblasten-Wachstumsfaktor-Rezeptor 3 <em>(FGFR3)<\/em> hervorgerufen. Bei der Entwicklung von ungef\u00e4hr\u00a0<strong>90 % aller Knochen<\/strong> spielt dieser Prozess eine Rolle.
